Anne Fennell
Anne Fennell knew she wanted to be involved with music from a very young age. Learning to read music was difficult for her and yet, she was not discouraged. Despite these roadblocks, Anne was able to make her dream come true by teaching herself to read music. The experience empowered her to learn all she could about Carl Orff and his methods of creating music makers. Anne has proudly taught music for over 30 years and works hard to find new and innovative ways to allow her students to provide their own ideas and input into the music they learn and how they are performed. She continues to strive to create lifelong musicians through her teaching and currently serves as the K-12 Music Program Manager for the San Diego Unified School District. Over her career, she has won numerous awards including being selected as the National Teacher of the Year by Magnet Schools of America in 2017 and one of the top ten finalist for the 2016 Grammy Music Educator Awards.
