Mark Ethier is one of the founders of the innovative pro-audio company, iZotope. In fact, as of the recording of his NAMM Oral History interview in 2021, Mark was the only founding member still with the company. Mark's rich background in classical music was largely based on the support and encouragement of his parents and grandmother. He attended a music conservatory and became interested in the recording process. While attending MIT, he met several classmates who would team up to form iZotope based on the idea of creating plug-ins and software for musicians to record their own music. Mark kept a focus on creating easy to use tools for the average player that could also be used by professional recording engineers. As a result the company has offered a string of audio software covering mixing, mastering and sound design.
