Steve Shelokhonov was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and was classically trained on the piano. As a teenager and young adult, Steve played in underground rock clubs in Russia before moving to the United States. He began writing music and attending the NAMM Shows where he was exposed to electronic musical instruments. He could often be found demonstrating Blüthner Pianos at the trade show, or at any number of booths with the latest keyboards. Adding jazz to his repertoire, Steve performed often for disabled veterans and beginning in the 1990s found a gig playing at Nordstrom stores in Southern California. Among his career highlights at the store was getting to perform “Love Me Tender” for Lisa Marie Presley.
